LETTER SHAPES
BASIC LETTER SHAPES   NUMERALS

You will begin to notice the repetition of certain shapes in making these letter forms. Click each picture for a slightly larger view. Practise of the shapes in The Basics will help with these exercises.

wpaa05eab7.jpg Note how some strokes pass over another. Compare the two letter d's here. If you attach the straight stroke to the back of the previous stroke (left example), the letter will look bigger and the straight stroke looks as though it has been added as an afterthought.

Strokes 1 & 2 of 'j' & 'k' are the same, but 'j' dips below the writing line and 'k' sits upon it. Repeat stroke 2 of the letter 'n' and you have the letter 'm'. 'P' could be finished with an 'o' shape which overlaps stroke 1 on the left hand side.
